Stop the Excuses and Be Successful

What most people often overlook in the workplace is that they are in charge of their own success. For every excuse that they make, they are digging themselves into a bigger hole which makes it harder for them to succeed. Pointing fingers and blaming others for mistakes at work can lead to nothing but trouble. When it comes to your own success, 85% of the responsibility falls onto you. This means you are responsible and are held accountable for your own success. It is not as difficult as it sounds.

The Key to Success

“Restoring responsibility and accountability is essential to the economic and fiscal health of our nation.” – Carl Levin

Accountability is not only a mindset is now considered to be a skill set as well. There is no specific step-by-step process to becoming accountable but there are ways that you can improve these skills and over time become more accountable and successful.

  • Take responsibility for everything that you do. This means you will have to change the way you think and perform tasks throughout the day. If you are a responsible person, then your chances for success increase significantly. Your success or failure is completely up to you.
  • If you want to become more accountable for your actions, you need to first become self-empowered. Self-empowerment is something that comes from within. This means you must give yourself the power to make important decisions in your life and be accountable for them.
  • Honesty is the key to accountability. If you are already an honest person you will find this to be a very simple process. Consistently be honest and you will always be accountable.

You control your own success by being honest and accountable for everything you say and do.
